A PPO health insurance plan, or "Preffered Provider Organization" is an organization composed of doctors, hospitals, and other providers whom provide health care services at a reduced fee. The PPO health insurance plan organization negotiates with doctors and hospitals for lower fees in return for services provided. PPO health insurance is similar to HMO health insurance, but care is provided for as it is received instead of in advance. PPO health insurance plans often offer additional flexibility by allowing members to see out of network doctors and hospitals. The fee’s associated with ppo health insurance is generally more expensive due to the luxury of being able to go out of network.
